Blood Mountain ( Easy/Moderate Weekend Backpacking Trip)

Blood Mountain
Leave- Friday 5:00pm.
Return- Sunday 3:00pm.
Coast- $50
Blood Mountain is the 6th tallest mountain in Georgia coming in at 4,458 ft. The name Blood Mountain comes from a battle that took place between the Cherokee and Creek Indians, which took place on the mountain near Slaughter Gap. The Creek lost giving the mountain to the Cherokee, who consider it a holly place.
Our weekend will began with the drive to Vogel State park, where we will camp out the first night in a primitive campsite. Saturday morning we will begin with breakfast and a short walk around the campgrounds lake (Lake Trahlyta). Then we will depart towards the approach trail for Blood Mt, which is about a mile drive. There we will hike roughly 2 miles (good hike) to the summit, where we will camp out Saturday night. Sunday morning we will hike back down to the car for the ride home.
